Lansing Area “Shaping the Avenue” TOD – in progress
As the local liaison for a multi-jurisdictional corridor initiative, I am helping write a form-based code as part of a federally-funded transit-oriented development pilot program for the Lansing area transit agency (CATA). My experience in Lansing along the corridor (highlighted below) gives me the understanding of local political dynamics to implement a collaborative vision across four municipalities. Led by Dover Kohl, our team is managing a series of public engagement efforts, educational and outreach programs, and internal work sessions to ensure a unified vision can be regulated independently by Lansing, East Lansing, Meridian and Lansing Townships. My primary role is working directly with municipal staff to audit their plans and codes, strategize engagement and integrate the code into their existing framework.
